The global airline business believes it has survived the worst of the times lately, but the industry will become profitable no sooner than in 2011 – it can be said that the airline industry is still in a sort of coma. European carriers experience the worst setback, while US businesses have managed to survive with smaller damage. Only few regional carriers, which have managed to adjust rapidly to the situation and have carved a good niche for themselves, expect to close the year in the black – most of them are the low-cost carriers. Both Ryanair and airBaltic expect to be among them. AirBaltic have changed the business model and focuses now more on transit passengers.
